Farid Mukhametshin interviewed by TV channel “Russia 24”

Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin took part in “Senate” programme on TV channel “Russia 24”. Head of Tatarstan Parliament told about participation in a plenary session of the Congress of local and regional authorities of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

The TV programme was devoted to relationships between Europe and Russia. The speech of the Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko delivered at a plenary session of the Congress of local and regional authorities was the key subject of discussion.

Farid Mukhametshin noted that our country and regions should use all opportunities to “promote the truth about the real democratic situation”. Issues of interaction between regional parliaments and the Federation Council were raised during the discussion.

Farid Mukhametshin said that the presentation of World Summer Universiade 2013 within the framework of plenary session was extremely successful. Due to this presentation Kazan is known as one of major sport, scientific and educational centers with powerful economic and infrastructure potential in Russia and Europe.

Farid Mukhametshin continued: “We use every opportunity to present our republic and, therefore, Russian Federation at any platforms. The platform of the Council of Europe with 47 states is a good one to present Universiade. Successful holding of 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan will be a start of Olympic Games in Sochi. We are doing our best in order to oragnise and hold this international sport event at a high level. Under the auspices of the federal centre and international sports federations we are seriously preparing for Universiade.”
