Rustam Minnikhanov: Zelenodolsk Plant is the leading shipbuilding enterprise in the country today

On December 17, speaking at a ceremony dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Zelenodolsk Shipyard, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Zelenodolsk Shipyard named after A.M. Gorky is the leading shipbuilding company in our country.

Before the ceremony, Minnikhanov looked around the exhibition of the regional defense industry enterprises, got acquainted with the production facilities and the main products.

Festive events took place at the Volga plant’s complex. Congratulating the staff of the enterprise on the landmark date, Minnikhanov emphasized that the team of the Zelenodolsk plant is currently implementing important state tasks, including for export.

“The plant has different stages of its development. There were also difficult times, the transition to a market economy, when the plant was going bankrupt. But thanks to the united team, huge support from the Ministry of Defense of Russia and personally from the President of Russia, the Zelenodolsk plant is one of the exemplary enterprises today. We are proud of you and always hold up as an example. The Zelenodolsk Shipyard is a high quality and timely execution of all contracts,” Tatarstan President emphasized.

According to Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Aleksey Krivoruchko, who also took part in the event, the Zelenodolsk enterprise is one of the most thorough and high-quality in relation to its work and results. “I can assure you that the staff of the plant will be provided with work for many years to come. The plant has contracts in force, and new contracts will be signed in the near future. This enterprise will live and develop. We will definitely support such a team,” he said.

“The enterprise hands over wonderful combat ships with modern design and formidable weapons to the Navy. I wish the ships to serve for a long time, for the glory of our Fatherland and the Navy,” Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov said.

As part of the ceremony, Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to the employees of the enterprise who made a significant contribution to the development of the plant. Also, the medal "100 years of the formation of the Tatar ASSR" was awarded to Krivoruchko and Evmenov.
