On December 5, the Volunteer Day, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met activists of the regional volunteer organizations in the Kazan Kremlin.
Minnikhanov noted that today there are 1,247 volunteer organizations with a total number of 62,900 people operating in Tatarstan. “People who are proactive and who want to be useful to their country, their republic, their city, find new forms of interaction and assistance in various spheres of life every day. These are medical volunteers, Victory volunteers, search and rescue teams, silver-age volunteers and a number of others. I think that there will be more and more of them every year,” Tatarstan President said.
According to Minnikhanov, during a difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation, the volunteering activities have received a new stage in its development. The work of volunteers has become crucial in providing assistance to the citizens of the republic in need. And the All-Russian action of mutual assistance "# MyVmeste" (We are together) gave a significant impetus to the development of a culture of mutual aid and volunteer movement.
Tatarstan President noted that the volunteer movement has always existed in the republic. But during preparation for the 2013 Universiade, we managed to structure this system and learn a lot, he went on to say. “You are an example for us and all people of Tatarstan. Despite your concerns and problems, you are always ready to help those who need it. We, in turn, will continue to give you overall support,” Minnikhanov said.
“The Volunteer Day should be a significant holiday. I addressed the leadership of cities and regions so that they pay due attention to the work of volunteers in their territories. At the same time, it is necessary to continue informing the population about our volunteer movements, about their actions. There are many people who are ready to help those in need, but they do not know where to turn to offer their help. I am sure that the number of our volunteers will only grow,” Tatarstan President added.
Then, Minnikhanov handed in commemorative medals of the President of the Russian Federation and Gratitude of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan the volunteers.
