On November 19, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the tax service of the Russian Federation. Head of the Federal Tax Service in Tatarstan Marat Safiullin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Sergey Zhigarev, representatives of regional ministries and departments, old stagers of the tax service took part in the event.
Minnikhanov noted that the tax system of Tatarstan is rightfully considered to be one of the best in the country. “The tax service has undergone a major transformation recently. Today it is one of the most modern and high-tech government agencies where digital technologies are widely used,” Tatarstan President said.
Minnikhanov reminded that, when he was the Minister of Finance of Tatarstan, he worked very closely with tax services. “At that time our work was not easy, we had to work in rather difficult economic conditions,” he said.
Minnikhanov stressed that during the difficult period of the coronavirus pandemic, the tax system of the republic continues to work stably and without interruptions. Today the republic remains the largest taxpayer in the country and the first in the Volga Federal District. “The main thing in this system is, of course, people. You are contributing a lot in what is being done in the republic today, the successful implementation of a number of projects,” Tatarstan President addressed the tax service officers.
Over the past 30 years, the number of taxpayers in Tatarstan has quadrupled. Now, over 105 thousand organizations, 95 thousand individual entrepreneurs and 3.9 million individuals are registered in the tax system of Tatarstan. There are 16 tax inspectorates operating in the republic, employing about 3.3 thousand tax officers.
In his turn, Safiullin noted that the tax system is one of the most cutting edge and technologically advanced in the world practice of tax administration. Today 97 per cent of taxpayers prefer to interact with tax authorities in digital format. Internet services on the federal tax service website are available 24/7.
“The modern Federal Tax Service not only controls the payment of taxes and compliance with tax legislation, but also creates a fair competitive environment,” Safiullin stressed.
At the end of the event, Minnikhanov handed in a number of regional awards to tax officers.
