On October 16, during his working visit to the Republic of Turkey, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Governor of Izmir Province Yavuz Selim.

During the meeting, the parties noted the importance of resuming direct contacts. “Despite the difficult epidemiological situation in the world, we are looking for opportunities to maintain ties with our partners, particularly with the Turkish brothers,” Minnikhanov noted.

According to Tatarstan President, now it is necessary not only to deal with the consequences of the pandemic, but to think and act strategically, taking into account the new realities. "Russia is a big country. We invite Turkish business to join us. Tatarstan will become a platform for entering the Russian market,” Minnikhanov noted.

Tatarstan President stressed that the republic has big plans. “Thanks to warm relations between the heads of our states, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, we have strong business ties. In this difficult time, we must intensify our work. Unfortunately, the pandemic has negatively affected the economies of all countries. It is good that both Russia and Turkey have opened their borders,” Minnikhanov went on to say.

The Governor of Izmir Province warmly welcomed Tatarstan President, noting that they are always glad to see him and supported the initiative to strengthen business contacts.
