On September 17, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the opening of the square and the unveiling of the bust of Salikh Yapeev.
A bronze bust of a participant of the World War II, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Tatar ASSR, Lieutenant General of the Internal Service Salikh Yapeev was installed in the courtyard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan.
Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Khokhorin, Salikh Yapeev's children – his daughter Zemfira Zaripova (Yapeeva) and his son Ravil Yapeev and others took part in the event.
“It is a special day for us today. We are unveiling a bust to the great son of the Tatar people, Salikh Yapeev, who did a lot for the law enforcement system. He was an outstanding person, the All-union personality,” Minnikhanov said.
Minnikhanov stressed that the legacy of Salikh Yapeev will remain in the memory of his descendants. He also thanked Khokhorin for preserving traditions and respecting the memory and experience of old stagers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
