Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova: The share of culture in the consolidated budget of Tatarstan in 2019 reached 4.9 per cent and this is one of the highest indicators in the country

On September 15, at the Kazan City Hall, speaking at a meeting of the Presidential Council of the republic for Culture and Art, Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lubimova said that the share of culture in the consolidated budget of Tatarstan in 2019 reached 4.9 per cent and that this is one of the highest rates in the country.

The Minister of Culture of Russia also stressed that salaries paid to cultural workers are growing every year in the region. At the end of the first half of 2020, it exceeded 34,000 roubles, and this is the first place in the Volga Federal District.

Opening the meeting, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that the development of culture is a priority area of the republic's state policy.

“Today we are talking about the richest traditions in the field of literature, music, fine arts, the demand for our libraries, museums, children's art schools. This is confirmed by the high interest of the population in cultural events in the region, as well as by the number of candidates competing for each place at institutes of culture and ar, which remains stable,” he said.

Speaking about the training and support of personnel for the sphere of culture, Minnikhanov said that the Rural Cultural Worker programme will be another step in this area.

Under the programme, it is planned to provide a land plot free of charge to young specialists who come to work in rural settlements, which will allow them to gain a foothold in their localities.

We pay special attention to the preservation of national cultures, native language, development of the creative potential and cultural heritage of the multinational people of Tatarstan, Minnikhanov emphasized.

A lot of work has been done to improve the network of state and municipal cultural institutions and to strengthen their facilities as part of the “Culture national project.

At today's meeting, the draft Strategy for the Development of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2020–2025 and for the period up to 2030, presented by the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova, was considered. The document is intended to contribute to the comprehensive development of the industry.

“On the one hand, this is the preservation of cultural traditions, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, on the other, the need to introduce innovative solutions, which are an essential condition for the successful development of the republic," Minnikhanov said.

State Counsellor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Yarilova and others took part in the meeting.
