On August 14, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, who are on a working visit to Yelabuga to take part in the August meeting of educational and scientific workers of the republic, visited a number of educational facilities.
First, they went to the Yelabuga Polytechnic College, which trains workers and specialists to meet the needs of workers at industrial enterprises of the town and enterprises-residents of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. Over the years of work, more than 10 thousand qualified personnel in various vocational skills, including a master of general construction works, an electric and a gas welding operator, an electrician, a car service technician, a CNC machine operator and other vocations have graduated the college.
In 2014, a resource centre for training specialists for machine-building enterprises was set up at the Yelabuga Polytechnic College. As many as 710 students are at college, while 587 students are attending short-term courses. Minnikhanov and Shaimiev looked around its laboratories and workshops equipped with modern production equipment, got acquainted with the results of the performances of representatives of the Yelabuga Polytechnic College in the WorldSkills Championship.
Minnikhanov and Shaimiev also visited the exhibition of agricultural machinery, the production of which has been launched at the MTZ-Tatarstan enterprise in the Yelabuga region.
Then, Tatarstan President and State Counsellor of the republic headed for the University School of the Kazan Federal University, where a new educational facility was presented for them. It will operate at the secondary school No. 5. As part of this project, the building was overhauled, the offices were equipped with multimedia equipment and computers.
During the inspection of the facility, the guests were told that the school offers early profilisation classes in various areas, including IT, chemical-biological and socio-economic spheres. The subject areas will be supervised by specialized institutes of the university. Teachers will be able to systematically improve their qualifications, including remotely, communicating with colleagues from the Kazan Federal University. Every teacher will have an assistant from among the senior students of the Yelabuga Institute of the Kazan Federal University. On September 1, the University School will accept 465 students.
By video conferencing, Tatarstan President talked to students of the summer physics and mathematics school of the Kazan Federal University at the Burevestnik suburban health camp.
Minnikhanov noted that such modern educational centres as the University School are very important for the republic. “We really need specialists in physics and mathematics and in the field of digitalization. You are the leaders in promoting these areas. The supervision of the Kazan Federal University will allow you to be especially competitive,” Tatarstan President emphasized.
Then, Minnikhanov and Shaimiev went to the new Adymnar-Alabuga polylingual complex, where a solemn ceremony of handing over school buses to municipalities of the republic took place. In total, Tatarstan schools will receive 200 buses.
“The education system is the number one issue for us. This is competition, this is our future. Today, much is being done in the republic in terms of modernizing the educational sphere. Our task is to provide equal educational opportunities for all children,” Minnikhanov noted.
He stressed that from September 1, about 800 buses will transport children along school routes. “We will do our best to ensure safe and comfortable transportation of children to educational facilities in compliance with all the necessary requirements,” Tatarstan President added.
