On August 13, at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and President of Transmashholding Company (the manufacturer of railway and urban rail transport in Russia) Andrey Bokarev discussed issues of modernization of the rolling stock of the Kazan Metro and the possibility of launching unmanned traffic.
Managing Director of the Transmashholding Andrey Romanchikov made a presentation on the unmanned traffic organization in the Kazan metro.
Thus, unmanned traffic in the metro contributes to the development of low-occupancy energy-efficient technologies, is passenger-oriented and controlled by a radio channel.
The meeting participants emphasized that the Transmashholding has been cooperating with the Kazan Metro since 2011. About 60 percent of the rolling stock of domestic production is manufactured by the Transmashholding.
Minnikhanov approved the idea of transferring the Kazan Metro to an unmanned system. “This is an attractive idea. Process automation ensures more reliable operation. We can combine our efforts to develop and implement unmanned vehicles," he said.
Tatarstan President gave an errand to establish a working group for a more detailed study of the issue. Thus, the working group will include representatives of Tatarstan Ministry of Transport and Roads, Metroelektrotrans municipal enterprise, Kazan Executive Committee and the Transmashholding.
During the meeting, the Board member of the TransmashholdingMikhail Khromov made a presentation of a project for the development of urban public transport in agglomerations.
