Chairman of the RT State Council, Chairman of Coordination council for compatriots’ affairs under the RT President Farid Mukhametshin participated in international symposium “Roald Sagdeev – 80” dated to anniversary of an outstanding Tatar scientist.

President of the RT Academy of sciences Akhmet Mazgarov, President of Kazan (Volga) Federal University Myakzyum Salakhov, representative of the Republic of Tatarstan under the Trade Representation of Russia in USA are on the Tatarstan delegation.

The forum, which had united scientists from all over the world, was held in College Park city (Maryland state), where Roald Sagdeev had been working for last 20 years.

Farid Mukhametshin welcomed participants of the forum on behalf of the Tatarstan President, State Council and Government. “With great pleasure I’d like to congratulate our outstanding fellow-citizen and hero of the day,” Head of the Tatarstan Parliament said.

He reminded that President of Tatarstan presented the highest republican award – the “Order of merit to the Republic of Tatarstan” to Roald Sagdeev in January this year.

According to Farid Mukhametshin, Roald Sagdeev has warm spiritual and scientific relations with Kazan. At the beginning of 90s authority of the famous physicist made a considerable contribution to establishment of the Tatarstan Academy of sciences, and integration of Tatar scientists with international academic community.

“You are the person with an amazing fate, our contemporary, who was able to realize his skills and talents, achieve outstanding results at the international scientific arena by working hard. Your principal civil position, active and initiative public and charity activity also deserve respect. I wish you strong heath, constructive longevity and new scientific success and achievements!”

Within the confines of the symposium Farid Mukhametshin and members of the delegation participated in meetings and negotiations with members of academic community: Noble prize winners, and executives of Maryland University. Issues of expansion and strengthening of scientific and educational cooperation were discussed.
Farid Mukhametshin also met with Managing Director of the World Bank Ms Sri Mulyani Indrawati at company’s headquarters. Head of the Tatarstan Parliament highly estimated the level of cooperation between the international financial structure and the Republic of Tatarstan within the bounds of interaction between the World Bank and Russian Federation.

Farid Mukhametshin told about social and economic state of our republic and work aimed at strengthening Tatarstan’s investment attractiveness.
He drew attention of high representatives of the World Bank to certain socially important projects where Tatarstan could use international practice, i.e. support programs for local initiatives for rural municipalities, implementation of ecological programs of the territory of Tatarstan.

Chairman of the RT State Council, Chairman of the Committee for urgent issues of the Congress of local and regional authorities of the Council of Europe Farid Mukhametshin is also going to participate in a session of the Congress bureau in Andorra la Vella (Andorra princedom). Preparation for the next 24th session of the Congress is on the agenda.
