Aleksey Pesoshin at the meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan: Our common task is to ensure the safety of residents of the republic

On July 20, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan to sum up the results of the first six months of 2020.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan, Police Lieutenant-General Artem Khokhorin addressed the participants of the meeting with his welcoming speech. He outlined the main results of the ministry's work. For six months of 2020, as many as 27,138 crimes were registered in the republic, 13,114 were solved. He noted that that the total number of registered wilful infliction of grievous bodily harm, robberies, thefts and burglaries has declined.

The Minister noted that the main priority in the work of the Ministry for 2020 is counteracting organized crime, preventing  the involvement of youth and adolescents in the activities of organized criminal groups and destructive tendencies. Thanks to the timely measures taken, it was possible to prevent the explosive growth of ruffian-like and other group criminal manifestations among minors, to reduce public resonance. Moreover, the measures taken this year have made it possible to significantly increase the efficiency of the work of the internal affairs bodies in investigating preventive crimes, including in migration legislation and road safety, as well as those related to evasion of administrative supervision.

The results of the work of a number of territorial divisions of the Tatarstan Ministry were also presented at the meeting. 

Speaking at the meeting, Pesoshin noted that the stable situation in the republic largely depends on the work of the Ministry. According to him, the internal affairs bodies and divisions coped with all the tasks, including the implementation of measures to ensure that citizens, organizations, enterprises and institutions comply with the established sanitary and epidemiological requirements and restrictions in the difficult conditions of the spread of coronavirus infection, as well as public order and safety during the vote on the approval of amendments to the Constitution Russian Federation from June 25 to July 1.

“We must meet the new challenges that appear in our lives together. Our common task is to ensure the safety of the residents of the republic,” Tatarstan Prime Minister stressed.

Counteracting organized crime, preventing the involvement of youth and adolescents in the activities of organized criminal groups and destructive groups remain the main focus of the work of the Ministry in Tatarstan,  Pesoshin said. 

The bodies of internal affairs must strictly suppress the activities of radical groups, to prevent conflicts on ethnic and religious grounds together with the public. Particular attention should be paid to combating the spread of extremist ideology and the recruitment of youth using the Internet, he went on to say.

Besides, Pesoshin added that it is necessary to maintain the positive dynamics of work to combat drug trafficking.

He also reminded that many events are held in the Year of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Tatar ASSR. As the end of the meeting, state and departmental awards were handed in to the most distinguished employees.
