Tatarstan President and Governor of Kirov region sign an agreement on interregional cooperation

On June 26, following their bilateral meeting in Kirov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of Kirov region Igor Vasilyev signed an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Government of Kirov region on trade, economic, scientific, technical and socio-cultural cooperation.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the Republic of Tatarstan and Kirov region share common economic, humanitarian and cultural interests. "Trade and economic relations lay the foundation for cooperation. Interregional trade turnover has reached 6 billion roubles recently. Tatarstan supplies trucks, tires, petroleum products, synthetic rubbers, nitrogen fertilizers, glass, a wide range of food products, light industry products, refrigerators and many other goods to the region. Kirov region delivers timber, caustic soda, power cables, concrete products, foodstuffs, shoes and overalls to the republic, developing relations in the field of agriculture", he went on.

“Dozens of Tatarstan enterprises are developing production cooperation and trade relations with partners from Kirov region. We are ready to boost cooperation between the enterprises of the machine-building complex, provide your region with high-quality fuel, chemical products, and develop reciprocal deliveries of consumer goods and food products,” Tatarstan President said.

According to  Minnikhanov, special attention should be paid to humanitarian and cultural ties. About 1400 students from Kirov region study in Tatarstan universities. Moreover, 36,500 Tatars live in the region. Every year Sabantuy is held in the cities of Kirov, Malmyzh, Vyatskiye Polyany and other places of compact residence of Tatars. Minnikhanov thanked the regional leadership for their assistance in preserving the culture of the Tatars living in the region.

In his turn, Vasilyev noted the high level of interregional cooperation in scientific, technical and educational fields. “There is Innopolis in Tatarstan, which has already well established in science and conducting a variety of scientific experiments. We are now forming an equally significant cluster in the field of biotechnology. We will find ways of mutual cooperation in this matter,” the Governor said.

Also, Vasiliev proposed to actively develop cooperation in the field of construction and sports. “In general, we have a lot of areas for interaction. I think this agreement will give them a new significant impetus,” he stressed.
