Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in an unveiling ceremony of the memorial to the soldiers of the 311th rifle division in the city of Slobodskoy of Kirov region

On June 26, during a working visit to Kirov region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of Kirov region Igor Vasilyev took part in an unveiling ceremony of the memorial to the soldiers of the 311th rifle division in the city of Slobodskoy.

During the World War II, the 311th Rifle Dvinskaya Red Banner Order of the Suvorov Division was established in the Kirov Region. The personnel of the division was recruited from civilians, including the citizens of Tatarstan. The division went through the whole war, participated in the defense of Leningrad, liberation from fascist invaders of the territory of our country and foreign states and in the Berlin operation.

Thousands of fighters and division commanders did not return home, and many are still missing. The governor of the region emphasized that the memorial will embody the feat of all citizens of Kirov region who went to the front and gave their lives for victory.

Minnikhanov said that the unveiling of the memorial in honor of the soldiers of the 311th rifle division is an important event in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
