On June 18, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to Volga Federal District Igor Komarov held a meeting, via videoconference, with the heads of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Udmurt Republic, the Orenburg and Saratov regions to assess the readiness of the regions for the Nationwide Vote on the adoption of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
The chairpersons of the regional election commissions reported on security measures and protection of citizens at the voting stations. The heads of the regional departments of Rospotrebnadzor spoke about the epidemiological situation and the readiness of the regions in terms of sanitary measures during the vote.
All employees of election commissions should have personal protective equipment, and voting facilities should be equipped with non-contact thermometers, antibacterial rugs and antiseptics. All norms and requirements of sanitary services must be strictly observed at the voting stations.
Komarov and the heads of the regions also discussed the issues of law enforcement and fire safety during the voting.
He stressed that it is necessary to actively inform citizens about the essence of the proposed amendments to the Constitution and about the possibilities of voting.
The Nationwide Vote on the adoption of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation is held throughout the country, as well as outside it in accordance with the Procedure approved by the Central Election Commission of Russia. Voting is scheduled for the 1st of July, 2020 from 8:00 to 20:00 p.m. local time. For citizens who cannot come to the polling station on the 1st of July, additional options are provided, including voting before the voting day, voting at the location of the voter (“Mobile Voter”), voting outside the voting station.
The possibility of remote electronic voting is also provided for residents of Moscow and the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Komarov will hold such meetings with the heads of all regions of the Volga Federal District.
