16.06.2020

On June 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the renovated library-branch number 26 in the Kirov district of Kazan (11 Klara Tsetkin St.), which was renovated with modern architectural and planning solutions and innovative technologies in 2019.

Today, this is the only library in Kazan integrating functions of a book depository and modern public space, where various events - literary stand-ups, lectures and classes are held.

Minnikhanov looked around facilities of the renovated library. He visited a computer room, a children’s room and a reading room and also got acquainted with new technologies and e-services for visitors. The total volume of the book fund is 75,400 volumes. Books are equipped with special chips that “bind” them to an inventory number in an e-catalog and store information.

Tatarstan President was informed that an e-library card can be registered in the library. It is valid throughout the republic and allows access to any library in Tatarstan.

Minnikhanov supported this innovation and was also issued an e-library card.

With the help of this card Minnikhanov received the book «Tatar Codex by Tukay» through the self-service station.

Tatarstan President also donated the seven-volume book “History of the Tatars from ancient times” and the new book “Tatarstan 100: Before and Now” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the TASSR to the library fund.
