Rustam Minnikhanov hands in keys to new vehicles to officers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations

On June 15, in front of the Kazan Family Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn ceremony of handing in key to fire-fighting and special vehicles to the officers of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Tatarstan and Tatarstan Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The solemn event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and 25th anniversary of Tatarstan Ministry of Emergency Situations and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Tatar ASSR.

In total, rescuers received 33 units of special equipment. Among them is another batch of 12 fire-fighting vehicles, overhauled under the regional programme.

In total during three years, under this programme, 310 million roubles were allocated for the repair of 133 tankers. Next year, it is planned to complete the repair of all fire fighting equipment with an operational lifetime of more than 10 years. These are practically new cars with new engines and units.

Russian Minister for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Natural Disaster Relief Evgeny Zinichev welcomed the participants of the ceremony via videoconference.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the republic carries out the systematic work on the improvement of the material and technical base of the Ministry of Emergencies. In addition to the purchase and overhaul of fire and rescue equipment, fire protection facilities are being improved.

Tatarstan President noted that over the past five years, the number of fires decreased by 18 per cent, the number of deaths in them by 23 per cent, the number of deaths at water bodies decreased by two times. Minnikhanov informed about the implementation of the programme, under which 68,000 households of the republic were equipped with autonomous fire detectors.

In his turn, Zinichev thanked the leadership of the republic for supporting the structures of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies.

Then Minnikhanov handed in a number of awards to employees of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Tatarstan.
