On June 4, during his working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Azatlyk Square to inspect the progress in its improvement as part of the regional programme.
The central square of Azatlyk is one of the key projects as part of the programme for the improvement of the monocity of Naberezhnye Chelny. One of the most important tasks of the project is to create a comfortable pedestrian and cycling area. The promenade is a new pedestrian area on the Azatlyk Square.
Aide to Tatarstan President Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova showed Minnikhanov around the square. The improvement of the public space was carried out under the Creating Comfortable Urban Environment project.
Tatarstan President also looked around the amphitheater area and went up to the observation deck.
Then Minnikhanov got acquainted with historical photographs of the city of Naberezhnye Chelny presented at special stands. Head of the Culture Department of the Executive Committee of Naberezhnye Chelny Rumil Karamiev told him about the history of the city during the formation of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Most of the archive photos were taken to capture the construction of the KAMAZ Autpmobile Plant.
