On April 27, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting on monitoring food and medicine prices with the participation of all municipal regions of the republic via videoconference.
Minnikhanov stated that the situation with the availability of products, medicines and prices is under constant control in the republic. He went on to say that a price monitoring working group has been set up under the leadership of First Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Rustam Nigmatullin for this purpose. Moreover, citizens can ask their questions and send their complaints through a hotline, which has been operating in the republic.
Thus, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the republic, local executive committees in every region, Tatarstanstat, The Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Roszdravnadzor, State Alcohol Inspection, Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Ministry of Health of the republic, Ministry of Agriculture of the republic monitor prices and the availability of goods in the republic.
At the same time, Minnikhanov emphasized that prices they provide in their reports vary a lot. “In order to avoid discrepancies, I ask you to monitor prices using unified methods,” Minnikhanov suggested. We need objective and comparable data, he said.
Minnikhanov stressed that Tatarstan is an independent region in terms of basic food products.
He reminded that there were cases of rising prices for socially significant food products. However, as a rule, this is due to a change in the ruble exchange rate for imported goods and a seasonal factor.
The current epidemiological situation is not a reason to forget about the quality of products, Minnikhanov said. This applies primarily to the supply of products to budgetary institutions, he added.
The issue of availability and affordability of personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, and antiseptics remains relevant in the republic.
“The health of our citizens and their confidence in the government depend on how well we work out on providing the population with food and medicine during the pandemic,” Minnikhanov said. He gave an errand to the heads of the regions and all participants of the meeting to keep these issues under constant control.
