Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulates on Easter holiday

18.04.2020

Dear Orthodox citizens!

I warmly congratulate you on the end of Lent and Resurrection Sunday!

At all times, Easter personified an awakening to a new - morally clean, eternal life, inspiring an unfading faith in the Savior, hope for the best and love for one's neighbour in the souls of Christians. “Death defying death”, Christ showed millions of his followers the path to the highest perfection, commanding to honestly and humbly carrying their cross, work creatively, live in peace and harmony with others, take care of the sick and the poor.

Unfortunately, this year's Easter celebration is taking place under difficult conditions of the fight against the insidious epidemic, which requires all of us - people of different nationalities and religions - to closely consolidate our physical and spiritual forces, endurance and patience.

I am sincerely glad that the Orthodox Tatarstan citizens along with Muslims and representatives of other religions, are fully aware of the high degree of responsibility to God and society that all of us have and strictly follow the enduring values of mercy and humanity. Believers are invariably reinforced by hope for the intercession of the Mother of God and Cathedral of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God in all its glory and splendor, reconstructed at its former historical place.

I am sure that following the wise calls of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, the Orthodox Tatarstan people will worthily, with an invariable feeling of joy and reverence, meet the feast of the Resurrection of Christ, further strengthening themselves in prayer works and good deeds.

May the eternal light of saving faith continue to illuminate your life path! I sincerely wish you peace, health, optimism and well-being! Happy Easter holiday!
