On April 9, in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a videoconference with representatives of telecom operators in Tatarstan.
As many as nine telecom operators provide Internet services in the republic.
There are about one million home Internet subscribers.
“The main issue is to ensure reliable communications. Today, all remote work is connected with the use of the Internet,” Minnikhanov said during the meeting with telecom operators.
Tatarstan President said that yesterday he had the opportunity to connect to a number of educational institutions to know about the organization of distance learning for schoolchildren.
At the end of the meeting, Head of Tatarstan President’s Press Office Liliya Galimova said that the load of telecom operators has increased by 30 per cent this week. This is also due to the beginning of distance learning for schoolchildren.
From March 30 to April 7, the number of calls from wired Internet users, namely teachers who hold online lessons, increased, Galimova noted. The calls mostly relate to the low speed Internet. In order to distribute the load, it was recommended to organize training in two shifts and use several educational platforms.
Representatives of telecom operators also said that they are ready to connect teachers conducting distance learning lessons to the home Internet for free. They also suggested that teachers use educational platforms even if there are no funds on the balance.
During the meeting, telecom operators also asked for permission to open mobile phone stores where it is possible to purchase gadgets.
Galimova said that Tatarstan President gave an errand to study the issue. He emphasized that the main thing is to comply with all sanitary and epidemiological standards and requirements of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare during coronavirus infection.
