On February 26, at their meeting in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin, who arrived on a short-term working visit in Kazan, discussed issues of cooperation between Tatarstan and the Astrakhan region.
Today, the contractual legal framework for cooperation between Tatarstan and the Astrakhan region has been established, namely, an inter-regional agreement and an action plan for its implementation are in force.
Minnikhanov emphasized that the Astrakhan region is one of the dynamically developing regions of the country. According to Tatarstan President such areas as oil production and oil refining, engineering, car manufacturing and shipbuilding, deliveries from Tatarstan of products of automobile tires, refrigeration and medical equipment, consumer goods are of interest for joint work. Cooperation in information technology, high technology, fish farming are of mutual interest.
Tatarstan supplies cars and trucks, buses, food products, medical equipment, sheet glass to the Astrakhan region.
Vegetables and tomato puree, fish and fish products, salt, confectionery are mainly imported from the Astrakhan region.
We are interested in developing cooperation, Minnikhanov emphasized during the meeting.
Over 60,000 Tatars live in the Astrakhan region, and this is an important factor in strengthening humanitarian and business ties between the regions.
Tatarstan President thanked the governor for his attention to strengthening bilateral relations and expressed confidence that the regions will be able to fulfill the rich potential for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
