Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov holds a meeting with Minister of Industry and Construction of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov

On February 17, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met Minister of Industry and Construction of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov, who arrived on a two-day working visit in Kazan.

Minnikhanov congratulated Berdymukhamedov on his recent appointement to the post of Turkmenistan Minister of Industry and Construction.

We appreciate your interest in our republic, Minnikhanov said.

He also asked to convey honor and respect to Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov for his personal attention to the development of Tatarstan-Turkmenistan cooperation aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Turkmenistan.

Tatarstan President also congratulated his Turkmen colleagues on the successful holding of the First Caspian Economic Forum in the Avaza National Tourism Zone.

He invited representatives of Turkmenistan to participate in the International Economic Summit “KazanSummit” to be held in the capital of Tatarstan in June this year.

“Today, there is a current Cooperation Agreement between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan and there is a Programme of our cooperation. Regular flights between Kazan and Ashgabat contribute to the development of our contacts, and I am grateful for their organization. A representative office of Tatarstan is operating in Ashgabat, and there is a decision to open the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan,” Minnikhanov said.

According to Minnikhanov, cooperation with Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant is also a promising area.

During the meeting, Tatarstan President briefed about the economic and innovative potential of the region. Today, Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed, stable and innovative regions of the Russian Federation, holding a leading position in the country in a number of socio-economic indicators, producing a wide range of industrial products and actively working on the development of special economic zones, modern industrial sites, industrial parks, he said.

The parties discussed the issues of cooperation in construction, training of highly qualified specialists for the construction industry at the universities of Tatarstan.

Minnikhanov thanked the Minister for his visit to Tatarstan and expressed confidence that this visit will contribute to further strengthening of cooperation.
