On February 10, in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in an extended summing up meeting of Tatarstan Ministry of Economy.

Before the meeting, Tatarstan President together with Tatarstan Minister of Economy Farid Abdulganiev, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Ganeev and other officials got acquainted with the exhibition with participation of the graduates of Entrepreneurship Factory project.

Abdulganiev made a keynote report.

Minnikhanov emphasized that despite the positive examples that were mentioned in the report, there is a room for improvement.

Regarding the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region, Minnikhanov emphasized that today the heads of the region have an obligation to assist the entrepreneur at every stage of business development.

Tatarstan President paid close attention to the creation of infrastructure in the regions to support small and medium entrepreneurship and its efficient demand.

Speaking about the self-employed workers, Minnikhanov emphasized that today it is a good tool for the development of small business. But to register as self-employed is not the priority, they should really work and earn an income. The task of the relevant departments, including the Regional Ministry of Economy is to educate the self-employed and help them.

Tatarstan is the only region with a federal e-trading platform, but even our regional manufacturers manage to work on other platforms, Minnikhanov stressed.

Another issue raised at the meeting is the state of engineering centres and prototyping centres.

Tatarstan President also said that the region received the status of Advanced Development Territory for 5 single-industry cities. But at the same time, Chistopol did not fulfill its obligations regarding the number of residents involved and the corresponding infrastructure has not yet been created in the Mendeleevsk region.

Another issue important for the republic is its innovative development. Minnikhanov urged to analyze the activity of regional universities on inventive activity. He said that it is necessary to work more actively with the Innovation Promotion Fund.
