Sergei Naryshkin visits construction site of Aquatics Palace

Chairman of State Duma of the Federal Assembly and Chairman of Supreme Supervisory Board of the Russian Swimming Federation Sergei Naryshkin has visited the construction site of Aquatics Palace during his working trip to Kazan.

Speaker of the Lower Chamber of the Russian Parliament was accompanied by Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin.

President of the Russian Swimming Federation, four-time Olympic Champion in swimming Vladimir Salnikov told about the use of new sports object.

Construction of the Aquatics Palace is being implemented within the framework of preparation for XXVII World summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. The palace is situated in a picturesque place on the embankment of the Kazanka River. The construction started three years ago.

The object will start operating in a test mode in January of 2013.

It is meant for 4200 seats. The palace contains main arena with three basins. Their size meets Olympic standards and will enable holding swimming and water polo competitions of any level.

Moreover, there are two halls for dry swimming, massage room, medical room, three fitness centers, restaurant, conference hall, press center and commentary rooms. Children and youth sports school will start working after the official opening.

Sergei Naryshkin wished builders to successfully finish construction works.

During Universiade 2013 competitions in swimming, highboard diving and synchronous swimming will be held at the Aquatics Palace.
