Rustam Minnikhanov meets senior managers of Total Oil and Gas Corporation

On January 22, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Director General of Total Oil and Gas Corporation (France) Patrick Pouyanné.

Minnikhanov noted that Total is one of the largest international concerns in the field of oil production and refining, operating in 130 countries. The oil industry is also one of the key sectors of the economy of Tatarstan, he emphasized. “We have great opportunities for developing cooperation,” Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov noted that Total is actively developing the alternative energy segment today, investing in the production of batteries and other energy storage solutions. Tatarstan is also interested in the development of these technology and is ready to offer the necessary conditions for the localization of production facilities in the republic.

According to Tatarstan President, training of personnel for the oil and gas industry is another important area of ​​cooperation. Minnikhanov and  Pouyanné discussed the mechanism of exchange of experience, including work with young specialists.

Morever, the meeting considered prospects for cooperation in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions produced by oil and gas enterprises. In particular, they discussed conducting joint research and testing new solutions, including at Tatarstan sites.
