On January 17, at the Korston Entertainment Complex, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in an extended meeting of the State Committee on Archival Affairs of Tatarstan, which discussed the formation of archival fund of the republic at the present stage.
Making a keynote report at the meeting, Chairman of the regional State Committee on Archival Affairs Gulnara Gabdrakhmanova said that currently more than 7 million 800 files are stored in archives and 129 thousand items are brought to archives annually. The archives of Tatarstan take the second place in Volga Federal District after Nizhny Novgorod in terms of the number of stored files.
"The archive is a source of unique information, historical records we need to store properly for future generations," Minnikhanov said speaking at the meeting.
According to him, the archival fund of the republic is one of the richest documentary collections in Russia and contains information on the centuries-long history of Tatarstan. “Storing documents, archivists make a significant contribution to the solution of managerial, scientific, cultural and social problems,” he said.
Minnikhanov went on to say that in 2020 the capital of Tatarstan was chosen as the venue for meetings of the Archival Council at the Federal Agency and the Russian-Chinese Subcommission on Cooperation in Archives.
“We thank the Federal Archival Agency for this choice,” Minnikhanov said and gave an errand to the State Archive of the republic to organize high-level meetings.
Deputy Head of the Federal Archival Agency Andrey Yurasov took part in the meeting.
