Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan is interested in the construction of a gas processing plant in the republic

On December 24, at the Government House of the republic, speaking at a traditional annual meeting with representatives of regional and federal mass media agencies, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan is interested in implementing a joint project between Gazprom and Sibur to build a gas processing plant in the republic.

Minnikhanov noted that the technical side of the project has been well developed, adding that chances are high that it will implemented. “The construction of this plant will be beneficial for the country, for Gazprom, for everyone. We discussed this decision a lot and take a proactive stance on it. I am sure that the project will be achieved,” he said.

Tatarstan President added that the republic has competitive advantages in terms of necessary facilities and the availability of specialists.

The meeting also touched upon the development of the oil industry of the republic. Minnikhanov stressed that today Tatarstan produces 36 million tonnes of oil, but the facilities make it possible to increase this volume up to 40 million tonnes. “But it all depends on the agreements at the highest level,” he said.

According to Tatarstan President, as for the activities of Tatneft Oil Company, the company is considering the prospects of work in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
