Tatarstan President visits the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk

On December 11, during his working visit to the Republic of Belarus, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Cathedral Mosque in Minsk.

Opened in 2016, the Minsk Cathedral Mosque is the main spiritual centre of Belarusian Muslims and can accommodate up to 2,000 believers during festive services.

Mufti Abu-Bekir Shabanovich told Minnikhanov about the history of the Muslim community of Belarus and the activities of the Muslim religious association, and also showed him around the mosque. In addition to a prayer hall, there is a library, classrooms, a conference room and a museum of the history of Islam.

Tatarstan President also congratulated Abu-Bekir Shabanovich, who turned 80 years old this year, on his anniversary. Minnikhanov donated a special copy of the Koran, published by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan in Kazan, to the mosque.
