On December 10, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived on a two-day working visit in Bratislava (the Slovak Republic), had a meeting with Minister of Economy of Slovakia Peter Žiga.
During the meeting, Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of Slovakia for the hospitality and organization of the itinerary of Tatarstan delegation in Bratislava.
On July this year, during his working visit to Russia, the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Andrei Danko has visited Tatarstan and invited Minnikhanov to visit Bratislava.
Tatarstan President said that Tatarstan delegation arrived in Slovakia to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation and to establish new business contacts.
According to Minnikhanov, Tatarstan, as a region of Russia, and the Slovak Republic have great opportunities for cooperation in economics. It is necessary to use full potential.
The Tatarstan-Slovak trade turnover increased by 23 per cent and amounted to 540 million US dollars in 2018.
We invite Slovak companies to develop their business in Tatarstan and use the republic as a venue for entering the Russian market, Minnikhanov said. He also said that Tatneft Oil Company is already cooperating with the Slovak company Slovnaft, supplying oil.
Tatarstan President also said that the region is developing cooperation with such EU countries as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, France and Finland.
According to him, today it is important to strengthen efforts of the business structures of the republics and the Chambers of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan and Slovakia.
During the meeting, Minnikhanov invited the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic to head Slovak delegation of business circles to visit Tatarstan for a more detailed review of the possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation.
