Ambassador of Thailand to Russia Thanatip Upatising at a meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov: We have been in Tatarstan for about 30 hours, but have already learned a lot about the economy of the region

On December 6, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation Thanatip Upatising.

Opening the meeting, Minnikhanov congratulated Thai Ambassador on the upcoming public holiday - Constitution Day of Thailand, celebrated on December 10.

“We highly appreciate the cooperation of Tatarstan with Thailand under the friendly Russian-Thai relations. Thailand is Russia's oldest partner in Southeast Asia, and in 2017, the countries celebrated the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations,” Minnikhanov said.

Relations between our countries are traditionally built on the principles of mutual respect and trust, rely on time-tested friendship between our peoples, Tatarstan President noted. He said that Russian-Thai trade turnover is growing, and in 2018 it increased by 17 per cent. And this trend is steadily holding this year.

According to Minnikhanov, there are good prospects for expanding cooperation.

Upatising thanked for the warm welcome in Tatarstan and for the organization of the working visit. We have been in Tatarstan for about 30 hours, but we have already learned a lot about the economy of the region and its potential, Ambassador said.

He said that had a meeting in Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade and Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.

According to Upatising, much can be done in the development of Tatarstan-Thai relations. This relates to the economy, industry and the tourism potential.

Addressing Minnikhanov, Ambassador said: “We could become your representative in the Asian region”.

At the end of the meeting, Upatising said that his country is ready to cooperate efficiently with Tatarstan under the Russian-Thai relations.
