On November 19, speaking at a business breakfast dedicated to the development of transport infrastructure in the Russian regions and moderated by Russian Minister of Transport Yevgeny Ditrich under Transport Week in Moscow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the transport corridor "Europe - Western China" is important for the development of Tatarstan.
The meeting participants discussed the adoption of a comprehensive plan for modernization and expansion of the main infrastructure in Russia. Its transport part includes 9 federal projects aimed at implementing 2 priority tasks. This is the development of East-West and North-South transport corridors and an increase in the level of economic coherence of Russia.
This implies a fundamental update of the entire transport infrastructure of the country, namely federal and regional roads, airports, international transport corridors, seaports, the increase in speed of transportation and the development of high-tech vehicles. In the period until 2024, as many as seven trillion roubles are supposed to be allocated for the implementation of transport projects and about half of them will be investor funds.
Answering questions about the importance of the construction of the Europe-Western China transport corridor for the region, Minnikhanov said that the project is strategic for Tatarstan.
During a business breakfast, Minnikhanov said about the development of such a direction as water transport. In particular, he informed about the project of Chaika passenger water ship developed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau. Minnikhanov emphasized one of the advantages of this vessel that it is designed for gas engine fuel.
