On November 11, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov opened a new X5 Retail Group’s distribution centre at the Zelenodolsk Industrial Park. Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimov, Minister of Economy of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev, Head of the Executive Committee of Zelenodolsk municipal region Mikhail Afanasyev took part in the event.
“This project is needed and interesting. The area of the complex exceeds 38 thousand square metres. It is planned to create 500 jobs, which is also very important. But the most important thing is that the distribution network of the Pyaterochka retail chain will work in the interests of consumers of the republic and Tatarstan suppliers,” Minnikhanov said.
At a special exhibition, Tatarstan President got acquainted with samples of products of Tatarstan manufacturers selling their goods in stores of X5 Retail Group. “The opening of this complex will allow us to improve the quality of interaction with local suppliers,” Director General of the Pyaterochka retail chain Sergey Goncharov said.
Eight different storage zones are located in the distribution centre, including dry product warehouses, a platform for frozen products, fruits, vegetables and other goods. The necessary temperature conditions are maintained to preserve the freshness of the products in each section. The capacities of the new centre make it possible to process up to 5 thousand tonnes of cargo per day and serve 1.2 thousand trade facilities. The complex will provide food for stores in Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Mari El and Chuvashia.
