Urgent issues of regions’ life on the agenda of the Council of Europe

In the course of sessions members of parliaments discussed several urgent aspects of activity of local and regional authorities, exchanged opinions regarding current events happening in global policy and economy, considered political guidelines of work of the European organisation for the short-term.

After being elected for the post of Chairman of the Committee on urgent issues, Farid Mukhametshin introduced several essential issues on securing human rights and observance of democratic procedures in the European Commonwealth for consideration at plenary sessions of the Chamber of regions and the United Congress session.

Members of the Congress supported approaches developed by the Committee during preparation of final resolutions and recommendations. One of the issues discussed at plenary session of XXVIII session of the Congress was political participation of the youth in life of the society.

Farid Mukhametshin said that currently new technologies and social networks in the Internet such as Facebook and Twitter offer young people wide opportunities for personal political activity and mobilization in support of political campaigns.

Farid Mukhametshin mentioned holding of World summer student games in 2013 in Kazan as a positive example of creating conditions for professional growth and career promotion of the youth.

Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council held several meetings and negotiation with chiefs of international European organisations and newly elected Chairman of the Congress of local and regional authorities Mr Herwig Van Staa.

Farid Mukhametshin informed European colleagues about the International scientific research conference “Formation of new federative Russia: experience of constitutional lawmaking of the Republic of Tatarstan” dedicated to 20th anniversary of the Tatarstan Constitution that will be held on November 2-3 in Kazan.
