Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in the meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects

On October 12, at Tatarstan Government House, Russian Minister of Sport Pavel Kolobkov chaired a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects non-profit organization.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Russian Deputy Minister of Education Irina Potekhina, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic - Chief of Staff of Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers Shamil Gafarov, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Education and Science Rafis Burganov, Tatasrtan Minister of Sport Vladimir Leonov, Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Project non-profit organization Azat Kadyrov and other officials took part in the meeting.

Opening the meeting, Kolobkov emphasized that over the past 10 years, the Directorate has held many events.

All of them were held at a high level. “Everything that the Directorate does is being implemented very efficiently. The Ministry appreciates your work. We have many projects ahead. It is also important that the Directorate is the operator on the implementation of Ready for Work and Defence programme. I thank its staff and hope that we will hold many events in the coming years and not only in Tatarstan. I’m sure that we need to use the resources that we have both organizational and human, and the Directorate’s team is such a resource,” Russian Minister said.

Minnikhanov thanked the federal colleagues for the trust and high appreciation of the projects implemented in the republic. “The directorate is already 10 years old. This is a professional team under the authority of Russian Ministry of Sports. We still have many forthcoming events. One of them is the Games of the CIS countries which we should hold at a high level next year,” Tatarstan President said.

Kadyrov informed about the history of the organization, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019.

He expressed hope that the gained knowledge and skills will be in demand in the future, as the Directorate has experience in the organization of not only multisports competitions, but also other various projects.

The key role here plays the experience of holding the 45th WorldSkills Competition, held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre in August, 2019, where 1354 competitors from 63 countries took part.

None of the events being held can do without volunteers. Kazan Volunteers movement is another important part of the Universiade legacy, which also celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019.

In 2019, the Directorate continued to work as an operator on the implementation of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Work and Defence” programme in the Russian Federation.

FINA Aquatics Development Centre is operating in Kazan. It establishes favorable conditions for the improvement of the training of athletes from various countries on the eve of the World Championships and the Olympic Games and the improvement of the qualifications of coaches and referees from Russia and neighboring countries.

Speaking about future plans, Kadyrov said that in 2020, the Directorate will take an active part in the organization of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the TASSR, and, in particular, the Games of the CIS countries dedicated to this event which will be held for the first time. It is planned that athletes from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and other countries will take part in the events - a total of about 5,000 athletes and 600 officials.

“We thank the leadership of the country and the republic for the vote of confidence. We will do everything to ensure that the upcoming projects will be implemented at the highest level,” Kadyrov emphasized.
