Rustam Minnikhanov pays a working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny

On October 9, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny to take part in the events dedicated to the Machine Builders Day.

The first event of the Tatarstan President’s working programme became an unveiling ceremony of the bust to the first Director General of KAMAZ  Automaker Lev Vasilyev.

The monument was erected on the square in front of the general directorate of the enterprise.

“The KAMAZ is the pride of our country. And this is a great merit of Lev Borisovich Vasilyev. A new truck manufacturing enterprise was built under his leadership and Naberezhnye Chelny turned from a small settlement with 37,000 population into a large city with 360,000 citizens. Millions of square meters of housing, dozens of schools, kindergartens and healthcare facilities have been built. We will always be grateful to Vasilyev for his great contribution to the development of the machine-building complex of the republic,” Minnikhanov said.

Director General of the enterprise Sergey Kogogin noted that the construction of the KAMAZ has become the largest construction project in the global automotive industry.

Later on the same day, Tatarstan President took part in a solemn opening of one of the main roads after major repair - the central highway of the city (Almetyevsk Highway - Musa Dzhalil Prospekt - Naberezhnye Chelny Prospekt - Mira Prospekt - Abdulla Alish street) was repaired under the federal programme "Safe and high-quality roads". The total length of all sections exceeds 18.5 km.

Tatarstan President emphasized that on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the KAMAZ, a number of projects on the improvement of the city, including the development of road infrastructure are being implemented in Naberezhnye Chelny. He congratulated the citizens on the opening of the updated road and thanked the road workers for the high - quality work.

The mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev noted due to the implemented the road development projects, the number of accidents reduced by 40 per cent.
