Minister of Agriculture of Tatarstan: More than half of sugar beet has been harvested in Tatarstan

On October 5, at the Government House of the republic, speaking at a video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with the participation of Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities of the republic, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported on the pace of harvesting industrial crops and autumn soil preparation.

The Minister said that as for early grain crops 4 million 250 thousand tonnes of crops have been harvested in the republic, while another 200 thousand tonnes of corn are planned to be harvested. The Tukaevsky region is the leader of the current harvesting campaign, with the gross grain harvest amounting to 175 thousand tonnes and the crop yield of 40.4 centners per hectare.

As of today, 33.8 thousand hectares (53 per cent) of sugar beets have been harested. Over 1 million 464 thousand tonnes of root crops have been dug out. Tatarstan sugar factories have already produced 74.2 thousand tonnes of sweet products.

Zyabbarov continued to report that work on autumn soil preparation is underway. Today, 1 million 405 thousand hectares of land have been plowed (74 per cent). About 2,000 units of equipment are involved for these purposes. Over the past week alone, 192 thousand hectares were prepared, he said.
