Rustam Minnikhanov and Maksim Akimov congratulate winners of Digital Breakthrough contest

On September 29, at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Maksim Akimov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of the Rostov region Vasiliy Golubev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aysen Nikoaev and Director General of Russia — the Country of Opportunities non-profit organization Aleksey Komissarov took part in a solemn ceremony of summing up the results of the All-Russia IT contest “Digital Breakthrough”.

“Holding the finals of such a large All-Russia contest in Tatarstan is a great honor for the republic. We have talked a lot about the Digital Breakthrough, but when we were near you we realized what the great power of our country is. All regions are represented here. I wish you would be happy with the conditions established here. What you have done in these 48 hours is an incredible achievement. I sincerely congratulate you. Welcome to Tatarstan, welcome to Kazan! ” Minnikhanov said.

Welcoming the participants of the contest, Akimov emphasized that the main aim of the contest is to make people's lives much better. “Our task is very simple that neither a single decision of the participants to be lost and all this huge work finds its use,” Russian Deputy Prime Minister said.

As many as 20 teams became the winners of the main programme. The Tatarstan teams “IGT Club” and “UMM1” were the best in two categories. IT specialists developed an application to improve the financial literacy of the population and a service to optimize the roadwork process.

It was also announced that the final hackathon was the largest IT contest in the world. The corresponding decision was given by experts from Guinness Book of World Records, who took part in the event.

Over 3000 IT specialists from 77 regions of Russia worked at the Kazan Expo at the same time. The finalist teams of the regional stage and student and school teams took part in the contest.

Digital Breakthrough is the All-Russia contest aimed at identifying and unlocking the potential of specialists in digital technologies (IT, design, project management) held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre on September 27-29, 2019.
