Rustam Minnikhanov visits a new Zambezi River Zoo in Kazan

On August 29, in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited a new Zambezi River Zoo. The construction of the facility was completed, but animals will be placed in pavilions in a few weeks.

Minnikhanov looked around the territory of the zoo and the pavilions for elephants, hippos, giraffes and monkeys. According to Director of the Kazan Zoological Botanical Garden Fanis Nurmukhametov, animals from Africa will live in the Zambezi River. He also informed the President about plans for arranging a leisure park and a botanical garden of medicinal plants.

“Work is still underway. There is a historical part and we will also bring it into such a state that our guests, and most importantly the residents of the republic, can always be proud of this facility,” Tatarstan President emphasized.

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin expressed his gratitude to Tatarstan President for assistance in the implementation of the project.

Nurmukhametov said that the opening of the facility will take place before the end of this year.
