Rustam Minnikhanov about the new Haier plant: This is a big project as part of Russian-Chinese relations

On August 28, in Naberezhnye Chelny, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to  the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, CEO of Haier Group Zhang Ruimin and Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev took part in the opening ceremony of the washing machine factory and industrial park of the Haier Chinese Company.

The honoured guests made a short tour of the production site, were told about new “smart” technologies introduced at the plant, and were presented samples of manufactured equipment.

The washing machine plant is the second production facility of the Chinese corporation in the republic. In 2016, a refrigeration equipment factory was opened in the city.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Komarov noted that trade and economic cooperation with China is one of the priorities for the regions of the Volga Federal District and for Tatarstan in particular.

“Haier's expansion of production facilities in Naberezhnye Chelny plays an important role in the development of relations between Russia and China, and promotes mutually beneficial cooperation. I would like to note that Haier Corporation has big plans for the development of production in Tatarstan,” Komarov said. “The opening of the Haier Industrial Park will be the first milestone on the way to launching the production of high-tech appliance electronics, meeting the best world standards in Russia.”

The construction of the new plant started a year ago. At the first stage of production as many as 500,000 washing machines will be produced per year. With the launch of an additional line, it is planned to double production. The company will create over 300 jobs.

Minnikhanov said that the WorldSkills Competition ended in Kazan yesterday. Russia took second place in the team event, conceding first place to China. Tatarstan President congratulated Chinese colleagues on excellent results. “Yesterday I had the opportunity to report to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the opening of the new plant with our Chinese partners. He fully supports this project,” Minnikhanov said.

Tatarstan President added that the Government of the Republic will assist in the further work of Haier in Tatarstan. “The new Haier plant is a big project as part of Russian-Chinese relations,” Minnikhanov concluded.
