Tatarstan President meets participants of the first International Oil and Gas Youth Forum

On July 12, at the Yunost children’s summer camp in Almetyevsk region of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the launching of a hackathon as part of the first International Oil and Gas Youth Forum.

Minnikhanov talked to participants of the youth forum. Increasing the prestige of blue-collar jobs was one the topic of their discussion. Minnikhanov noted that the training of skilled workers is one of the priorities for today. “The level of training of specialists directly affects the competitiveness of enterprises. Today, representatives of blue-collar jobs work on the cutting edge equipment, including laser welding devices, five-axis machines and other tools. This requires special skills and abilities,” Tatarstan President emphasized.

He said that much work on the development of a network of resource centres is underway in the republic. Today, there are 31 facilities where the best teaching, personnel and material and technical resources are concentrated. Minnikhanov added that this year about 3,000 students from professional organizations of Tatarstan will take demonstration exams according to the WorldSkills standards.

Tatarstan President stressed that the introduction of advanced methods of training workers contributes to the active participation in the Worldskills movement. He reminded that the Tatarstan team won first place in the team scoring at the WorldSkills Russia National Championship this May. Moreover, Kazan will host the WorldSkills Championship in August, he added.

The interaction of educational facilities with potential employers was also touched upon during the meeting.

The forum participants also asked Minnikhanov about his attitude towards the construction of a waste disposal plant. Tatarstan President noted that currently about 30 per cent of garbage is recycled. This is a useful recyclable material, including paper, aluminum, various polymers and other items. However, a certain amount of waste needs to be disposed. “This problem can be solved by building a plant for recycling garbage. It will meet all modern environmental safety requirements. Similar complexes operate in many countries throughout the world. There are 21 waste disposal plants in Tokyo within the city. A ski slope was built on the roof of the plant in Copenhagen. That says a lot,” Minnikhanov concluded.
