Rustam Minnikhanov meets Governor of the Omsk Region Aleksandr Burkov

On July 1, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Governor of the Omsk region Aleksandr Burkov.

Today, members of the delegation from the Omsk region, who are on a working trip in Kazan,  visited the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, where the presentation of the economic and investment potential of the republic was held. Then, the delegation visited IT-park, Eidos-Medicine Centre, Himgrad Technopolis and Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant.

Before the meeting, Minnikhanov and Burkov signed an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Government of the Omsk region on cooperation in economic, cultural, social and other fields.

Opening the meeting, Tatarstan President noted that the updated intergovernmental agreement will contribute to strengthening ties between the regions. According to him, a road map to implement the agreement should be prepared next. 

Minnikhanov noted that cooperation between Tatarstan and the Omsk Region has been significantly strengthened recently. Thus, the volume of mutual trade has reached about 4 billion roubles. “I believe that we can significantly increase these volumes. We supply trucks, agricultural machinery, tires, petrochemical products, food, medical equipment, medicines to the Omsk region,” Tatarstan President said. He added that synthetic rubbers, motor gasoline and other items are delivered from the Omsk region to Tatarstan.

He continued that the republic has great experience in creating investment infrastructure. Minnikhanov also noted prospects for the development of interregional cooperation in terms of supporting entrepreneurship, developing public services and e-procurement systems. The field of innovation is also of great interest, he added.

Minnikhanov said that a large Tatar community, including about 42,000 people, lives in the Omsk region. National public organizations are actively working in the region. The Sabantuy holiday is organized annually. Tatarstan President thanked Burkov for his attention to the Tatar community and the support provided.

In his turn, Burkov noted that cooperation with Tatarstan is important for the Omsk region. “Tatarstan is our main partner in the Volga Federal District. We have a lot in common. Petrochemical industry, engineering, agriculture and food production are well developed in our regions. The cooperation agreement that we signed earlier opens up a large field for us to work together,” the Governor stressed, noting prospects for cooperation between Omsk and Tatarstan enterprises.

According to Burkov, the Omsk region is interested in studying the experience of Tatarstan in terms of the development of special economic zones, industrial parks and technology parks.
