Tatarstan President attends the sixth China-Russia EXPO-2019 and visits a number of Chinese enterprises

On June 17, in the afternoon, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov attended the sixth China-Russia EXPO-2019 at the Harbin International Conference Exhibition Centre and visited a number of enterprises in Heilongjiang Province, including the Harbin Corner Science and Technology Company and the Wondersun Dai6ry Company.

In 2019, the EXPO is held under the motto “Chinese-Russian Regional Cooperation: Opportunities, Potential and Future” and is combined with the Harbin International Trade and Economic Fair. Exhibition areas are divided into various thematic pavilions, including International Pavilion, Russian-Chinese Cooperation Pavilion, Pavilion of Electromechanical and Oversized Equipment. The EXPO displays the results of agricultural development projects, equipment manufacturing, mining, e-commerce, culture and infrastructure development and even aerospace industry projects.  

Russian regions, which have been most actively cooperating with China, have their stands in the Russian-Chinese pavilion. The stand of the Republic of Tatarstan is one of the most popular among exhibitors and visitors. It features both the economic and investment attractiveness of the republic and traditional national treats.

In 2019, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia is celebrated. A specially prepared programme consisting of 33 forums, panels and round tables is held during the EXPO.  Moreover, the China-Eurasian Economic Union International Customs Forum, as well as meetings and sessions on the development of cooperation between the Heilongjiang Province of China and various regions of Russia are held on the sidelines of the EXPO.

The Harbin Corner Science and Technology Company, Minnikhanov visited after the sixth China-Russia EXPO, is an enterprise dealing with new and high technology of national importance. The main activity of the company includes the development and application of information technology, avionics and aviation general purpose maps, as well as the construction of smart cities. Currently, the company is cooperating with more than 800 institutions in China. A few years ago, the company began developing software related to the universal flight safety system.

The Wondersun Dairy Company, which is the province’s first enterprise that won the Chinese People’s Brand title, aroused particular interest among members of the Tatarstan delegation. Today the company has 20 branches and 14 processing enterprises in the provinces of Heilongjiang, Hebei, Tianjin, Liaoning and others.

The annual processing capacity of fresh milk is one million tonnes, while the annual production capacity of dairy products is 680 thousand tonnes. Minnikhanov was impressed with the production facilities and modern technology of this company and encouraged them to cooperate with Tatarstan and invited representatives of the company to the republic to look into its investment potential.
