Mintimer Shaimiev and Farid Mukhametshin lay flowers at the monument to Alexander Pushkin

On June 6, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev and Chairman of the State Council of the republic Farid Mukhametshin laid flowers at the monument to the Great Russian poet Aleksander Pushkin in Kazan near the Jalil Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

A traditional poetic meeting dedicated to the poet's birthday was held here, in which representatives of the creative community of the republic, artists, schoolchildren and students took part.

On June 6, the Day of the Russian Language, a Russian and international national holiday dedicated to the Russian language is celebrated on the day of Aleksander Pushkin’s birthday. The holiday was established in the Russian Federation in 2011.
