On June 5, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the official delegation from Switzerland led by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch.
Minnikhanov thanked Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch for the interest in developing cooperation with Tatarstan, which is aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Switzerland. “The President of our country Vladimir Putin supports the work of the regions with European countries. We are open for cooperation and are ready to provide overall assistance to foreign partners in our projects,” Tatarstan President pointed out.
He noted that today representatives of the Swiss business are working with Tatarstan companies in such areas as pharmaceutical industry, construction, production of compressors and municipal equipment, work is underway with KAMAZ plant.
“The turnover is still small to make 112 million dollars. I think we have the potential to develop trade and economic relations. Tatarstan is one of the industrially developed regions of the country. We can interact in the field of oil refining, petrochemical industry, machine building. We have been actively working in the field of IT, new materials, medicine, agriculture and large infrastructure projects are in progress, ” Tatarstan President continued.
He also proposed to consider opportunities for the development of cooperation in such spheres as culture, tourism, education and science. Minnikhanov emphasized that the holding of the Days of Switzerland in Kazan would be a serious step in strengthening relations. The event will be held on June 4-9.
Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch thanked the President of the republic for the meeting. She noted the importance of cooperation between the Russian regions and the cantons of Switzerland.
“During our visit to Russia, we wanted to visit Tatarstan, as it is an economically developed region, attractive to investors. Today there are many opportunities for building up our bilateral trade and economic relations, investment ties,” she added.
