On May 16, during a working visit of Tatarstan delegation to Turkey, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Istanbul Province Governor, Acting Mayor of Istanbul Ali Yerlikaya.
He thanked Yerlikaya for the meeting and briefed about the current visit to Turkey.
“We are closely cooperating with our Turkish partners, including Istanbul. Direct flights between our cities also contribute to the development of the relations. Today, all opportunities for expanding our trade and economic contacts and strengthening of humanitarian cooperation have been established. I want to thank you for your assistance in the implementation of joint Tatarstan-Turkish projects,” Tatarstan President said.
Minnikhanov invited Yerlikaya to visit Tatarstan.
The governor emphasized that today it is necessary to take full advantage of the potential of Tatarstan and Turkey for the development of mutually beneficial relations. He noted that the leaders of Russia and Turkey pay great attention to the development of interregional cooperation. “We are ready to increase trade turnover. I am sure that together we will achieve success in this issue,” the governor added.
After the meeting, Tatarstan President visited the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, researches, publishes, records and provides information in a wide range of areas related to Islamic culture and civilization. The center is a coordinator of cooperation between governments, cultural institutions, universities, researchers and artists.
To date, the Centre is in close contact with academic, cultural and Muslim organizations of Tatarstan.
