On May 15, during his working visit to Turkey, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Bursa Organized Industrial Zone, where he familiarized himself with the activities of a number of enterprises.
The Industrial Zone was established in 1961. Today, there are more than 250 residents in the zone, with the total exports making 4.8 billion US dollars. Automotive and textile branches of industry are the main sectors represented by its resident companies. There are also factories specializing in the production of furniture, machinery, machine tools, food and chemical sectors, metalworking, plastics and rubber, and other spheres.
Minnikhanov visited three enterprises. He went first to visit Durmazlar Makina, a plant producing high-tech machines for metal processing. Vice President of Durmazlar Holding Fatma Durmaz told Tatarstan President about the history of the plant, which was established in 1956. High-tech folding presses, metal laser cutting machines, guillotine shears, punching presses, automated plasma cutters, pipe bending machines and other machines are produced there. Minnikhanov was shown a model of guillotine shears made back in 1957, which is still functioning properly.
Minnikhanov was informed that Durmazlar Makina machines are exported to 120 countries. About 80 per cent of machines are sold abroad, including the USA, countries of the European Union, Australia and others. The company's products are used in industrial enterprises of Russia, including Tatarstan. Durmazlar also produces tram vehicles. As many as 18 vehicles are manufactured per shift.
Minnikhanov visited production facilities of Sarigözoğlu Company next. The plant produces stamped body parts for vehicles, as well as molds for their manufacture. Such world-famous auto companies as Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Fiat, Volvo, Audi, BMW and others are among its main customers. The company exports its products to Germany, France, China, India, Italy, Portugal, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, the United Kingdom and Russia.
Then, Tatarstan President visited Korteks, which is part of Zorlu Holding and is one of the leaders in Europe and the Middle East in the production of polyester yarns used in home textile, clothing, and automobile branches of industry, the production of plastic / synthetic products (umbrellas, awnings, furniture) and other areas. The production capacity of the plant in Bursa reaches 580 tonnes of yarns per day, 150,000 tonnes per year. The plant produces more than 2,000 products and employs 2,000 people.
Minnikhanov was informed that the company is a leader in the textile industry in Turkey, with products being sold in 60 countries. The plant has its own research centre.
Tatarstan President and Co-Chairman of the Board of Korteks Zeki Zorlu discussed various forms of cooperation in the textile industry.
