On May 6, at the Jalil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn event dedicated to the 74th anniversary of Victory in the World War II.
Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, the veteran of the World War II, the Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kuznetsov took part in the event.
Minnikhanov welcomed the participants of WW II and the guests of the solemn event.
“Dear veterans and homefront workers, members of the Kazan Garrison, dear friends. From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you on the 74th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The 9th of May, 1945 is a historic date for our country, when Soviet forces beat fascism and brought to an end a bloody war. It is a day of national celebration, national pride, valor and glory of our great people,” Tatarstan President said.
The audience observed a minute of silence to commemorate the memory of those who died during the war.
Minnikhanov handed over certificates to state awards to the relatives of the veterans of WWII who died.
The event ended with a concert programme of Tatarstan creative teams.
