First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin takes part in the launch of the benzene extraction facility at the Etilen plant of Nizhnekamskneftekhim Petrochemical Company

On April 12, in Nizhnekamsk, First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nizhnekamskneftekhim Petrochemical Company Ruslan Shigabutdinov, Director General of the same company Azat Bukmurzin and Head of Nizhnekamsk municipal region Aidar Metshin took part in the ceremony of commissioning of the benzene extraction facility at the Etilen plant of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim.

The construction of the benzene extraction facility was finished at the end of 2018, and it was launched at the designed capacity in March of the current year. The new production facility will optimize the recycling process of the benzene-containing fraction in manufacturing and unload the existing energy-intensive components.

It is planned to increase the production of benzene to 265,000 tons per year with the help of new facility and completely avoid purchasing of it in another place.

Benzene is used in manufacturing of ethylbenzene, styrene, which is used in the production of rubbers and polystyrene. Polystyrene is used in manufacturing of disposable dishes, toys, in the tire industry, construction industry, medicine and other areas.

Nigmatullin congratulated the plant workers on the launch of the new facility and noted that it is only one of the stages implemented by the TAIF Group of Companies in the modernization and construction of production facilities. According to Nigmatullin, further modernization will help the company to be less dependent on external market conditions and economically sustainable.
