Rustam Minnikhanov welcomes the participants of the working group of Russian State Council on Education and Science

On April 11, at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the meeting of the working subgroup on Science of the working group of Russian State Council on ​​Education and Science, held by Governor of Novosibirsk region Andrey Travnikov.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Minnikhanov emphasized that the implementation of the objectives set by Russian President’s Decree of May 7, 2018 largely depends on the development of education and science in our country. It puts special emphasis on this area in all regions of the country, including Tatarstan, he said.

“We rely on the long tradition of the development of the educational system and scientific research. At the end of this year, we celebrate 215 anniversary of the establishment of the Kazan Imperial (Federal) University. Two honored Kazan universities celebrated their anniversaries, namely the Tupolev Kazan Technical University and the Kazan Technological University. To date both universities have the status of national research universities. The Kazan Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences is successfully operating. The Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan has been working for three decades. All this is due to world-famous scientists, famous scientific schools and discoveries of international significance,” Minnikhanov said.

According to Minnikhanov, it is important to understand that we cannot live by past merits, no matter how invaluable they may be. “Our efforts are aimed at further improving the scientific and educational infrastructure and the development of new areas of research,” he said.

Today, new types of educational institutions are contributing to the development of education, in particular the Kazan International School, IT-Lyceum of the Federal University, Innopolis University; University of Talents 2.0 and many other institutions.

Tatarstan has necessary conditions for keeping a leading position in the national education and science system, Tatarstan President said. He expressed confidence that this goal will be successfully achieved and wished everyone successful and fruitful work.
