On April 2, in the High Tech Campus (Brainpoint Eindhoven region of the Netherlands), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Secretary General of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy of the Netherlands Maarten Camps.
Minnikhanov thanked Camps for the opportunity to meet and discuss steps for further cooperation and for the visit to the high-tech campus.
The development of mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between Tatarstan and the Netherlands contributes to the establishment of favourable conditions for expanding regional contacts, Minnikhanov said. He also emphasized that Tatarstan is actively interacting with foreign business and supports foreign companies, launching their production facilities in the region.
Tatarstan President said that the Netherlands is an important trading partner of Tatarstan. The trade turnover between Tatarstan and the Netherlands increased by one third and amounted to about 2.8 billion dollars in 2018.
We are open for interaction and are aimed at cooperating with our foreign partners, Minnikhanov said.
In his turn, the Secretary General said that today it is important to look for new points of interaction. He emphasized that the Netherlands is the third trading partner of Russia. Besides, business contacts have also been established with Tatarstan, as one of the economically developed regions. We have been working with Tatarstan for many years, Camps said.
According to him, the interests in such areas as agriculture, information technology, health care and the transport system are similar and can become points of contact growth.
Cultural cooperation is also important for us, the Secretary General added.
He also said that this year the Dutch team will take part in the WorldSkills Championship, which will be held in Kazan.
After the meeting, Minnikhanov and Camps took part in a roundtable discussion with the Netherlands business community.
